I see everyone was having the same problem as me. I took my 2004 Durango to the dealership. They told me there is a TSB on the problem. Chrysler has a special plastic refinishing paint that they apply. They will not replace the step because it is hot melted to the entire rear bumper cover. Make sure you get this done before 36,000 miles. They did mine and it looks great.

Do you have a copy of the TSB or number? I have to deal with a horrible dealership and I was just wanting to have something in hand to cram down their throats in case they try to get out of it.
