Default Clockspring Air bag light

Guys, question.

I had an intermittent air bag light (dash not passenger side) for a few months. It finally stayed on, and now it won't shut off.

I've read quite a bit about it and all the posts I've read suggest that its probably the clock spring. I've also read that if it is the clockspring other things such as the stereo controls on the steering wheel and the cruise control fail as well. Well in my case these are working fine. I really don't want to spend 4-5 hours removing the steering wheel and all the components and replacing the clock spring if this might not be the problem.

Has anyone had the same issue with the clockspring being bad while the other controls are working?

Thanks for any help
