Default Blind Spot When Backing Up

Has anyone experienced problems with a blind spot when backing up? I have never been in an accident since I've been driving (over 15 years) and since I bought my 2004 Durango last October, I have been in three accidents while backing up in parking lots. In all three accidents my passenger side rear bumper has been involved. Just curious if anyone is having a similar problem.

I only use the side mirrors when backing up and no problems. Just have to be more aware of your surroundings and take a little more time.

I only use the side mirrors when backing up as well. I bought my 04 Durango (Limited, red, 5.7 HEMI) about 3 months ago. It's taken some time to get use to the size difference (it replaced a 1995 Jeep Cherokee) during which I've had some close calls. I finally decided to start backing it with only the side mirrors like I do with the larger vehicles I drive and haven't had any more close calls. Hope this helps.

I have to admit, the durango is harder to back up than a regular pickup, especially when trying to back into my garage. The curve body lines around the rear fenders throw off my reference.
