Default Hemi threw a rod need to swap new one in. Proud new owner none the less ;)

Today I decided to pull the trigger on & buy a beautiful shape 2004 Hemi Durango Limited, it punched a hole through the block via a busted Rod but I got an excellent price on it so I'm not complaining any!.

So I'm all pumped to swap a running Hemi into it that has 110,000 miles on it that I'm buying for $1000 with trans in the next few days, but I'm wanting to know a few things about these new Hemi's.

First off so I don't make a mistake,

Are there any differences between the years of 5.7 Hemi's? such as electronics, sensors, TSB's?. I see a lot of 04's with rods knocking or thrown like mine and but 05 & newer I have not seen any in my looking that have thrown rods or hydro locked...maybe 04 was a bad year for that?.

Anyway the replacement Hemi I'm buying is an 05, so will all its electronics & sensors be supported in my 04? or will I have to swap my 04's sensors & electronics onto that engine? No big deal for me to do, just wondering.

Since I just got the Durango home from picking it up, I've had little time to inspect it because of it getting dark out as I got it home...anyway the top transmission bolts seem to be pretty tight against the firewall, I'm assuming theres enough room like on any V8 vehicle to remove them or is it as hard as it looks? I've done many engine swaps before but at first glance at night it looks tight. And how would you compare swapping a hemi out vs a regular 2nd gen Ram? (done plenty of these lol)

For the most part it seems pretty straight forward minus the top trans bolts, I just basically want to know if theres anything I should watch out for, or the fastest most efficient method anyones ever swapped one.

Thanks much.

04 and 05 are the same...they are also the two years that had all the problems. I would inspect and actually replace the valve springs and seats of the used motor you are buying because that is what leads to engine failure most in the 04 and 05 hemis. 06 and up changed and have mds and they dont have the valve issues that the 04 and 05 did.

before putting it in get brass soft plugs in it. and use anti-seize compound on the exhaust bolts, i mean ALL bolts on the bottom. if you take the ext manifold off. when you put back in, tighten the manifold to head only to 70-80% of full torque. after 6-7 full heat cycles take to full torque. if it leeks before that go ahead and take to full torque.
