Dodge Durango Sensitive Overdrive
I have a 2007 Durango SLT 4.7 liter. Bought the truck new and have had really good luck with it, no problems in 57,000 miles. The transmission seems really sound, shifts well, with no slipping. The only slightly annoying thing is that it it drops in and out of overdrive mainly at 65 MPH which is about 1,800 RPM. Above 70 MPH it stays locked up in OD with no problem, and below 65 MPH it will stay locked ueven lugging down to about 45 MPH which feels right.
Right around 65 MPH, it will drop out of OD with even the slightest throttle change. I replaced the throttle position sensor which did not change things.
In addition to being annoying, I'm afraid it is putting excess wear on the OD clutching system. Is this a characterisitc of the transmission, or is there a fix that will make it less sensitive at 65 MPH?? Thanks for your input.
