Air Bag Light
I have a 2005 Dodge Durango Limited. On the right side of the instrument panel the light is on that says passenger side airbag off. Also, the air bag light is on that is on the instrument cluster for the passenger airbag also. This just came on a few days ago. When you start the vehicle they both come on after about 30 seconds. According to the owners manual there is a fuse for this but I am unable to locate it. I checked the fuse blocks under the hood and there is nothing that indicates a fuse for this. Am I missing something here or is this going to be a trip to a dealer to get the module checked?
For anyone who might like to know, as I've seen a lot of post both here and on the internet in general concerning this with some of the model years of the Dodge Dakota and other models. I purchased a 2005 Dakota 4x4 just last week and the road side dealer knocked off a 1000 bucks because the airbag light was on the dash and middle dash and they could not get it to go off. I took my "new to me" truck into the Dodge dealership in Asheboro, NC this morning and for 92 dollars re-calibrated the passenger seat weigh scales. This took care of the problem. But my service man also said that it can be a sign of a weigh scale going bad and if I get the light again that would be the next step. Hope this helps anyone having this issue. Cheers, Mike.
I thought I knew a few things about these but to be very honest I never knew there was such thing as a scale for the passenger seat, but as they say you learn something new every day. The funny thing about this whole story, I was just about ready to take the Durango to the dealer and as of a few days ago both of the air bag lights went off. I have no idea why but they are now both off. I guess I will just have to keep watching everything for now.
