Default 06 Durango Auto Start

I had a first gen D and had an auto starter installed and a few years later I had nothing but problems because they spliced into every wire imaginable. Has this evolved into something more reliable and simpler?

There is actually a some what plug and play harness that you can have installed for under $300. It uses the factory key fob pressing the lock button three times to start and three times to shut off. Even has the shut off when the brake pedal is applied without the key in the ignition.
