Okay, need as much info as possible please! Noob on the forums as well here.

Okay what I have is a 2004 durango with the infinity set-up with 6 cd changer radio. What I want to accomplish in the long run is hook up my mtx subs with my mtx amp. What I mainly want to get accomplished before this is get a stereo installed. What do I need to do? In as much detail as possible please

What I have already done/experimented with: I did not read too much into it before I jumped the gun and tried installing a radio and not soon after was very disappointing. I didn't look at the harness I got off of amazon too much compared with my stock harness, which I have now come to learn is not the same since it is the Infinity set up. Ended up having no power to the aftermarket unit, tried 2 different ones, a boss and a pioneer one wired to the harness, couldn't get it figured out...

1. So basically, I want an aftermarket head unit in my 2004 durango capable of hooking up subs without really ****ty sounding speakers with no power, what do I need to do??

2. Do I need to bypass the amp? If so, how?

3. Do I really need to buy an expensive harness for the infinity set up or can I just wire everything up to where the infinity still works without a harness (or is it best to bypass?)

4. What do I need? (I already have a single din mounting bracket though and plenty of speaker wires, etc)
