Default Durango fix windshield water leak under cowl

I love my 2004 Durango Limited 2wd. With over 180K I can still tow monster loads with this car, seat 7 comfortably and maneuver small parking lots with a turning radius that is better than our PT Cruiser convertible.

However, I was alarmed by water from a heavy rain or car wash leaking under my deteriorated cowl windshield seal. People report this leak allows water to pool on and actually leak into the engine causing hydro-lock damage and engine replacement.

Replacement of the entire $200 cowl seems like a waste of money when just the weatherstrip needs replacement. I found a weatherstrip that works and posted a
. Hope this helps others before this little leak turns into an engine replacement!

Hi, looks good, hope it held up at the highway, was thinking of using silicone but this seems like a cleaner alternative.

Please post where you found the weatherstripping.

Thanks for your post.

I found the seal/weatherstripping on two websites.
http://www.stylintrucks.com/parts/fa...ai161227-.aspx
and maybe here
http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/...category=20301.
Seal is number 7. To be sure the second link is the correct seal/weatherstripping I would call their toll free number.

Unfortunate for me mine had hydro-locked after a bad 2-day storm early July this year. Now I'm looking for an engine. Anyone have any references or advice?

Great vid btw and thank you for this.
