Durango Transmission/Transfer case problems
Durango 4.7L, AWD, Automatic Trans. While driving uphill in passing gear, heard a pop, and lost all gears. Car came to stop and could not get any gear but park, and continually hear whine coming from transmission. Was towed to transmission shop, and shop foreman tells me he could not move car and had to get 5 men to push it on the rack. He said in addition to the transmission, he feels the transfer case needs to be repaired, because with all wheels on rack, the front wheels go in reverse, while the rear go forward-hence his reason why the car would not move or go in neutral. My question: Isn't the front wheels spinning in the reverse of the rear normal, if the transmission is locked in park?
Thanks!
Thanks!
I just bought a 2004 5.7 and not within 24 hours did the transfer case blow up.. It was making a horrid screaming noise going down the road.. Thank God it was all covered by the dealer.. Crazy to buy it and this happen.. We are a Ford family but needed a bigger vehicle with the 3rd row seating.. Foreign wasn't an option nor was Chevy. So the Durango met the cut.. I wish I had an answer but Im just learning dodge and it's workings.. Hope it's not to pricey of a fix.. The dealer said it ran them 3200 to fix it..
