Default 2006 Durango VES

I recently bought a 06 Durango SLT & the VES will not play movies; but will play cd's. The previous owner added and after market Alpine/Bluetooth radio. Could this be the problem why I'm getting error when trying to load movies? Also do anyone know what the original radio looks like and what features did it have? The VES has a tab for satellite, and it does work.

I knew all this going in; just trying to see if it can be fix.

Thank

This might sound insulting but that's not my motive: you put the dvd disc in the VES and not the Alpine right?

On mine the factory head unit is hooked to the VES for sound via wire and the head unit must be set on FM channel to get the sound. OR, we have to plug wired headphones into the VES. OR if we can find a set of wireless headphones that will connect with VES then we could use that. The VES reports the FM channel on the VES screen so it might be helpful to watch for that while it is powering up and when disc is inserted.

There is a setting on the VES to turn wireless on or off so you might check that. Also, just to make sure VES is generating sound you can plug wired headset into it.

(lol)I'm placing DVD in VES system. Also I can't get audio when playing cd's; but it show that the cd is playing. The previous owner installed an after market Alpine 143B-T CD receiver/Bluetooth.

Did you tune Alpine to correct FM channel? No audio through VES headphone jack? Did you try DVD disc instead of CD? Some CD formats may not be supported and won't give sound even though the disc plays.

dumb question.. are you trying to play a blue ray movie in it.. I tried that on accident and relized that it was a blue ray dvd.. put the regular dvd in and bam it worked.. same goes for the cd's some work and some formats dont.. hit and miss. I just wish there was an aux input on the stock stereo to use.. I hate the commercials on the radio and would rather use my pandora..

I have a factory VES in my 04. In the dash is a 6 disc changer. Audio is sent via wiring harness to the head unit. When VES is on, there is a little VES on the display and i can select it from the mode button.

The VES runs independent of the stereo as well but only provides audio then by the wireless headphones.

It should read dvd and cd regardless of the head unit. Audio may not play through the after market unit though.
