Default Possible to add ESP switch?

While pulling my dash apart on my 06 Durango, I noticed that the pigtail is there for the ESP off button that comes on some models (not mine). My question is whether or not it is possible to add that functionality by installing the switch (button). If that is a possibility, I'm also wondering what type of switch actually resides in that button. Is it merely a momentary single pole switch that sends a brief signal to the computer, or is there more to it than that? I might be inclined to use a generic switch and place it in a different location. I'm guessing it all has to do with the programming of the computer in my vehicle, but I suppose that's a matter of whether dodge actually programs different trim levels differently or if they are all pretty much based on which engine you have. Hope my question makes sense. Thanks for your help.

I found an ESP switch in an 06 Durango at a salvage yard. They show up on Ebay once in a while, too. It's a momentary switch.

I installed it in the dash and plugged it into the pigtail. It doesn't seem to do anything. I suppose a good dealer mechanic could download the correct software and activate it.
