Default New here with a transmission question?

Good morning, I am new to this forum and wondered if anyone would be able to offer me some insight with our 2006 4.7 AWD Durango.

Yesterday my wife was driving it from our house and after about 30 miles per hour the engine started revving and wouldn't go above 30MPH. She called me and I went to where she was with my scan tool. The transmission light was on.
I was able to scan
P0700
P0733

The truck drives fine in 1st and second. I Call the dodge dealer and the person says the truck is in "limp mode" to avoid any damage. She said it could be anything from a sensor to the transmission.

I did some reading online that some said the TPS sensor could cause this symptom at times. My wifes truck about a year ago when first started would rev high and low for about 2 minutes until warmed up. At that time I was going to replace the TPS sensor however it stopped so I figured it was just a fluke?

Is it possible this could be the cause today? Has anyone ever had this happen before? The truck has never been towed, never been beaten. Tranny always shifted smoothly and never shown any signs of issues. I checked the fluid and the fluid level is perfect and red. Smells a little burnt but looks fine.

It's now at a transmission shop I've used in the past. Waiting to hear from them but pray it's not the transmission. Hoping it's something less damaging to the wallet... Truck only has 112,000 miles on it.

Another sad thing is while talking to the dealer they said it should be lifetime powertrain. I said oh great. Then she says, well you would have had to have it inspected here in order to receive the warranty. I'm like, Crap. It's been in there multiple times for oil changes and such but we never had an inspection done on the truck? Actually didn't know you had to.They've state inspected the truck during our time we've owned it also.

Again, any insight or ideas is appreciated. And I thank you and anyone for your time in replying.

Spankey.

Wait for the diagnosis from the trans shop. They will be able to tell you.

Depending on your shop the last thing they check is fuses. My wife's Expedition has a 15 amp for the trans. Blow that fuse and she goes into limp mode and will throw codes about the selinoids and the clutches. Reason being is the PCM is reading the failures of it not shifting but is too dumb to realize it's in limp mode and firing off every code it can.
Aamco told me I needed 2500 worth of trans. I brought it home to do it myself. Started checking all the trans fuses and a 15 was doa. Usually in the power center under the hood. Replaced it and no trans light, no limp mode and off I went with it.
