Default 06 Durango 6 disk radio button issue

Just curious if anyone can offer some help. My wife has an adventurer model Durango with the 6 disk alpine satellite radio. Her volume and tuning ***** spin and when you turn them the volume jumps around as do the stations. As if they're not grabbing anything?

Could this be the radio or a button issue? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Oxidation on the contacts. (smoker?) you can try to remove the radio, open it up (LOL, good luck there), remove the tuning **** controls (not sure what these are called) soak them in Iso Alcohol for a bit, let em dry out. Won't clean the corrosion, but might make em usable again.

You could try a salt/vinegar bath followed by baking soda and water bath, then an Iso bath to remove any remaining water, or put in zip-lock bag of rice over night (can also save a cell phone that took a dunk).

Once dry put it all back together and see what happens. if you go the water route, make sure it's completely dry...water and electronics don't mix well.

Did the Iso bath to the control **** in the truck (purchased from heavy cigar smoker), works better, but I'm thinking the acid bath and neutralizer would work better. Those controls should just unplug from a pcb....if you can get them out. if not....nada.

Thanks. My wife isn't a smoker so that's out. Weird the volume **** started doing It then the tunning ****. I hate to buy a replacement radio since it has satellite and the 6 disc changer in it $$$

I hate to open it up but might end up having to. Do the ***** pull off the posts on the radio? Just curious or are they fastened hard?
Thanks

I would guess the ***** are pressed on. Getting these new fangdangled units apart is the tricky part. May be a good chance the front pops away from the main player. IDK. but still a b!tch.
