Default rear heater hose

I've been doing some maintenance recently and discovered that the rear heater hose (at the back of the vehicle), the rubber portion, is getting a bit cracked and hard.

Are those lines pressurized? Why do they have crimped fittings on them; that's why I'm wondering if they are pressurized. I'm thinking that instead of paying like $600+ for all new lines from front to back that maybe I can just cut the fitting off and double clamp a new section of hose on there.

Any thoughts on this? Anyone done this?

If it is a cooland hose, yes, they are pressurized. You can but pressure rated hoses and use hose clamps to replace it.
