2005 Durango Limited Caster Trouble
Caster range for my vehicle is 3.0 to 5.0. I have 2.4 on one side, and 2.6 on the other. I am told my caster cannot be adjusted within spec. Camber is perfect at -.2 on each side (range is -.5 to .5), and toe is properly set. What would cause caster to remain out of range if all others are in spec? What can be done to correct it?
incorrect ride height, tire size mismatch, frame angle not entered by alignment tech are some possible causes for caster being out of spec.
do the adjustment eccentrics move or are they seized?
honestly, You have nothing to worry about. Caster is not a tire wearing angle.
It is not out enough to effect return-ability to center, make the steering stiff or effect road feel. the important thing is the cross caster is within 0.5 degrees.
keep on trucking...you will not have any issues. the vehicle drives straight, correct? You could spend a lot of money to get to the root cause, have it put back in spec and end up not noticing any difference whatsoever.
