Default Transmission upgrade for towing

I have an 08, 5.7 hemi durango. (4x4)
I bought a 5000-6000 lb travel trailer.

The trailer is new, and dry. (Water and septic empty).

Towing from Idaho to California, going up hill maxed out at 50 mph.

I can handle going on slow road trip. My concern is that I had to really feather the gas to get to a sweat spot. Too much gas and it felt like tranny was slipping. Engine sounded louder, rpm revved, speed dropped, temp shot up.

I would pull over for 10-15 min. Start again, as long as I kept feathering gas under a certain rpm, I would still loose speed, but temp would not climb as fast. If temp climbed too high, everything started all over again... Loud winding engine, loss of power.

For a bit I was worried I would have to get towed home.

Any suggestions?
New/rebuilt transmission?
Torq converter?
Put in aftermarket beefier tranny?

Or buy bigger truck? Ram 2500?

I wish I could help. I also have a 28 foot bumper pull camper but I don't pull it with my 06 Durango I pull it with my f150. It seems to me that is a little heavy to be pulling with a Durango.

I'm towing my 5k travel trailer with my 08 aspen with 120000 miles. It does really well. I was concerned with the Hemi's ability, then noticed during a tune up that it appeared that the previous owner did not change the spark plugs on schedule. It was running well, but I switched up to 91 octane and my gas mileage went down... I did the tune up and the difference was very notable. How's the engine temp, I noticed that even when towing in 90 degree temps that it stays in the 210 - 215 degree range. When it gets hotter, it seems to increase the Trans temp (I wish I had a gauge for that) and causes sluggish shifting and dropping into lower gearing. Just a few thoughts.
