Default Backup Lights/Brakelights "Working" Together...

Hi guys, I'm Jimbo Slice.

Our '05 Durango had some rear functions working except, when ya hit the brakes, there was no right turn signal and the backup lights would come on dimly on both sides. Also the stop lamp and running/turn bulb are trying to alternate on the right side IOW, they will flash top and bottom bulbs. The left operates normally except the backup lights are coming on when you brake. Pretty crazy -eh?

Well I replaced the right socket because the stab on the connector of the ground was fried. I pulled all the wires out of the connector and stuck them in a new housing. I have a new brake switch and turn signal switch installed.

Looking into the old socket housing, I have the five stabs traced left side then right;

  • Left Top: Ground
  • Left Bottom: Running Lights
  • Right Top: Brake
  • Right Middle: Backing
  • Right Bottom: Turn

What I really need is a wiring diagram for this vehicle and any advice based on experience is surely welcome.

Thanks, Jim
