gas smell inside my car
I have a 2008 Durango. The engine light came on and I took it for a scan. The codes are PO456 and PO440 plus PO457. I purchased a new gas cap from Dodge hoping that was the problem. However, the light is still on and the gas smell is still there. It is strongest when the tank is full. I am looking to replacing the purge solenoid next, but am not sure where it is located. On my sister's 2001 Durango, it was on the firewall on the driver side of the car. Can someone please tell me where to locate the solenoid on my 08?
if your going to guess and not test. replace the esim first. failure of the esim switch to close will set all 3 dtc. Make sure you do not install it upside down as the weights that seal the system seat by gravity. replace the evap fresh air filter when you replace the esim.
you can clear the dtc with a scan tool but clearing the gas cap message in the evic requires ecm reset or battery disconnect.
