2nd Gen Mushy suspension
Hey all,
Had previously posted about heavy duty shock recommendations for an '07 SLT, but got no responses. I have since installed Tuff Country Nitro shock and the ride improved slightly. I'm looking for a tight truck feel. I've had the front end thoroughly inspected and replaced sway bar end links with Moogs, lower ball joints, sway bar bushings (all are poly) and I'm getting no love whatsoever. It still rolls and bounces around corners. It's amazing how much info ISN'T out there on these trucks. Our 1st Gen drove like a tank, so I know it's possible. Anyone have any suggestions? I'll take any info you have.
Thanks!

I cranked my front torsion bars up 1" and that itself stiffened up the front. I installed Reflex shocks which really made it feel like a 3/4 ton truck. I installed Firestone airbags in back and that also made it even stiffer. After installing the airbags I drove it for a few miles and when I got home I found that all the air leaked out because I didn't have one line in tight. Even with no air at all the rear is higher and stiffer. I did the shocks and the airbags because I tow a Jeep on a trailer. When I pulled the stock shocks off they were in excellent working order. I wish I had left them on. It's pretty stiff.
Aido:
The best Gen 2 shock upgrade IMO is the Bilsteins. They run about $300 ish for 4, but they really firm up the ride without making it ride like an old unloaded 1 ton pickup. I had them on my 01, and now on my 04.
