Default Bad PCM?

Afternoon folks. I'm still working on getting my '04 back on the road after it dropped #8 on the way to town a couple of weeks ago. The main problem is that the computer is showing an open circuit on injector #8. Since I've been having problems maintaining fuel pressure at shutdown, I went ahead and changed out the injectors. While it's back to firing right off when you start it, it is still running rough, smells like raw fuel, and is showing a code for an open circuit on injector #8.

I've been through the harness looking for shorts, but there aren't any I've been able to find. The wiring between the harness and the computer appears to be undisturbed. The only other thing I can come up with is that the control circuit in the PCM has failed and #8 injector has gone bonkers.

Before I drop the money for a PCM, can anyone think of anything else I might have missed?

Thanks in advance,
David

PCM was the source of the failure, but it may have taken the rest of the engine with it.
