06 Durango downshifting problum
Hello all I’m kinda new here. This is my first post although I joined back in 2016 this site has been very helpful but I have come across a problem that I need to reach out to the experst here...
About a month ago I had a problem with the transmission. it would not shift any farther then second it would act as if it was put in neutral.
after dropping the pan I found a few bolts and a bent accumulator plate.
I replaced all accumulators with aluminum ones and replace the accumulator plate with the upgraded one both filters and put it back together..
now it shifts perfectly through all gears the problem I’m having now is when it tries to downshift out of overdrive it seems to hesitate then roughly engages.
The weird thing is it only does it if I allow it to automatically downshift..
for example if I’m coasting down the highway and I start to go up a hill if I manually push the tow haul button it will downshift out of overdrive perfectly but if I allow it to downshift automatically in the same conditions it will first seem to have shifted fine but then two seconds later you can feel it clunk.. after about three attempts it will go into limp mode and check engine light will come on .
so I drop the valve body again and replaced the Shift solenoid pack But this did not change anything .
I can drive around all day with no check engine light as long as I hit the button before the transmission gets a chance to automatically do it..
So today on a long trip I decided to let the transmission automatically decide when to shift out of OD so I could read the codes . and while passing someone I noticed it slightly did the same thing downshifting into third gear as well but not as hard..
after three attempts the transmission will going to limp mode and check engine light will come on and it will not go into overdrive at all ...
if I pull over turn the car off then back on I get three more attempts before it goes back into limp mode.
what I mean by three attempts is if I don’t anticipate a down shift before the computer does it will shift hard... after three times it goes into limp mode.
Here are the codes that I pulled P0700 P0733 and P0734,
I plan on dropping the valve body again I just want to accumulate as much information as I can on what else to look for... possible damage to the valve body when the accumulator plate bent? Two of the accumulator cylinders we’re hanging out pretty far and what I believe is the overdrive accumulator was damaged. So I replace them all with the aluminum cylinders.
any tips on what to look for would be much appreciated thank you very much.
