2008 Durango Power Steering Noise After Repair
I recently had the pressure hose on my power steering replaced & had the fluid flushed on my 2008 Dodge Durango. I noticed immediately when I started up my vehicle when I picked it up that there was a humming noise that was not there before that gets slightly louder when I turn my wheel. I thought that there might be air trapped inside my power steering so I took the cap off the power steering reservoir & moved the steering wheel back & forth several times. It did make the noise a lot less noticeable but there is still a slight humming noise which varies when using the steering wheel. It is annoying & I am worried that it may lead to power steering pump damage.
I brought it back to the shop & after checking it out the mechanic said "The fluid level is good & there is no air in it. Everything is perfect". I ended up leaving without a resolution.
I noticed on the receipt that they used universal transmission fluid in my power steering. My owners manual says to use ATF+4 automatic transmission fluid. Could this be causing the noise?
