Default Heater Intermittently Working

Hi all, 2006 5.7L HEMI Adventurer 130k

When I went to turn on the heater on full the other morning, it kicked on for a second and shut off. I turned the **** to the off position and turned it back to full open and it kicked on for a second and shut off. Now when I turned the **** all the way, there is no air coming out. When I got the car, the air wouldn't kick on until I turned the **** to the third setting. Only settings three and four worked. The rear air works but, not the front. At one point during the summer, the didn't work at all for a couple of months then, it kicked on one day and worked until a few days ago. Can anyone tell me what is going on? Winter is right around the corner and we are about to get frost at anytime, here in upstate NY.

Thanks in advance...

Is there a faint breeze through the vents at speed down the road? It sounds like your blower motor resistor is getting ready to pack it in. It controls the fan speed. When it starts to fail, it will often only work on high. Eventually, even that will fail and it won't work at all.

There is a faint breeze while driving. When I bought the truck, The only way the blower would work is if I dialed it to 3 or 4. 1 and 2 never worked. How difficult is it to replace the resistor? Is the resistor behind the glove box? I read there is a box behind the glove box that controls the blower.

Definitely your blower motor resistor. I did a quick look on youtube and found a video on a 2005. If that's the same generation as your car, it's an easy job. One of the easier ones I've seen.

You'll need the fan working come winter and foggy windows.
