So I have 2006 Durango SLT, with over 250,000 miles (my second Durango, in-between 00 Dodge ram 1500 "Yea.. I'm a Dodge guy") it's due for oil change I live in Florida so I use 10w-30 85% of the year but I'm wanting to switch to something that might help get alittle more fuel efficient. I was thinking about 0-30 Synthetic Engine Oil to replace when I drain it out, change filter, etc but I just not sure if it's a good idea (I don't work on cars lol 😅 would it be safe to switch from 10w-30 to 0-30 or 0-20?
Edit (see screenshot): Mobil 1 saids I can but I wanted to make sure as I don't want to mess up my Dodge.

Engineers are trying for that last 0.000001 MPG all the time. Not saying whether it would be safe to run that oil in your rig, (or maybe not? IDK) I don't believe the extra expense of running such an oil would pencil out even if it does save you a partial of 1 MPG, by using it instead of whatever else you have been running. That oil is EXPENSIVE. Me? I have never owned a 4.7 or a Hemi, have owned lots of 318s and 360s, both Magnum and pre Magnum, have always seemed happy with 10w40. Not saying Id run that, in the newer engines though, either. as many miles as I pile on, I couldn't afford to drive if I had to run such an oil. whether you run synth. or dino oil, keeping it clean and fresh, changing it when you should, is more important than dino vs synth. I run dino oil and change at 4K miles.

Honestly I prefer "dino oil" over the other as it's just a way to jack up the price. I figured it wouldn't improve it much, but didn't think about the fact the price of the other oil ($10/ bottle) would honestly be more then I save on mpg.
