Default Waste of a Durango...

This is sad... Stop throwing good Durango's away... put them on Craigslist/Facebook marketplace for 1000$ and dont take 500$ from the junkyard.

Looks like a theft recovery. If the high dollar parts are stolen and the insurance company pays off, the bone yard is where it goes. It looked like the air bags were stolen and the body looked like they took it for a joy ride. Look at it this way, the parts are now available to everyone. The guy talking sounded like he knew it was a theft recovery.

not a theft recovery, damage was done by the fork lift. This was a 4.7 failure, had new brakes/calipers on it also, new shocks... Look how clean it was. The scrap yard removed the air bags, not a thief.

Not all the time, The insurance co will auction them off. Scrap yards will only give then scrap value where you can get more auctioning them off. It really depends on what the vehicle is.

I recorded the video, it was a blown 4.7. They owner sold it for 500$ to the pull a part.... They drain everything, remove the air bags and set it out there for the vultures like me

Honestly it had BRAND new brakes, calipers, rotors, shocks all around. Had to be a garaged southern car, all exterior damage was from the pullapart place and the forklift moving it, most of these in ohio are rusted to the ground. Ive seen them where you can see through the quarter panel they are so rusted. Im seeing alot of 4.7's with timing chains/valve train blown. I think when you hit 180k.. you better get your valve train redone. Im sure people don't consider this maintenance but it is on these trucks.

I've seen Durangos with bed engines for sale around here. They sit forever. When I bought an '03 Ram with the 4.7 from one of the guards at work, the junk yard only offered him $250. I told him if they didn't offer at least $500, I'd buy it. I ended up with it. It had major upper engine noise from a plugged oil pick up tube. I'll take the time to go into the engine but a salvage yard doesn't haven the time or man power to do that. Before I buttoned the engine back up, I looked around and used 4.7 engines were as much as rebuilt ones. Plus, the reluctor rings are different between some years.

You may think it's a waste, but economics pretty much assure it's going to be there.

To be honest, there is a lot of good old cars that are wasted by their owners. A lot of my friends had old models staying in their backyards. Now, these cars are useless from my point of view. Just to take it and to recover it. Also had a similar model lying in my dad's garage. So, I just scraped it because I didn't have the money to start a project. I contacted the guys from https://www.scrapi.com/scrap-car-calculator. They showed me online how much my car is worth and transferred the money. I remained very pleased with their services. I saved a lot of time.

Rusty trashed cars belong in the junkyard... but this was a clean 08, rust free with new suspension.

These should be put on craigslist for a while but people dont even want to deal with it,, dont blame em on that but just thought its a waste.

I saw a 91 convertible lebaron MINT in the junkyard... crazy to just toss it.
