545RFE Replaced with similar jeep 4x4 tranny
So, i had bought this 04 Durango SLT 4x4 from a tow yard. It was in limp mode. Got it half way home. Next time i started it, no gear was engaging. Multiple codes pertaining to transmission. Fluid level looked a bit high but assumed not the problem.
Bought all the exterior sensors. Nothing.
Bought new interior filters, replaced fluid. Nothing.
Bought shift solenoid block pack. Replaced relay. Nothing.
Bought exact model junkyard transmission, sat outside the durango for less than two hours while i went and borrowed jackstands. Some pos stole it. 12:00 - 2:00 pm.
Bought another transmission but was from a 2004 ish Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4. Easy pull.
Bolted the bellhousing to motor and the transfer case didnt match. So i swspped the adapters and bolted it up. Replaced fluid.
It moves. Now i have to change to pans because the prior pos who drained it didnt put all the bolts back in and broke one head off. Tranny light still on. It shifts hard into 3rd often and i now get the traction control light and E-break light pop up after about a block of driving. Im sure many things could have gone wrong. Any idea what i am missing or need to adjust?
Using ATF4 Fluid, original transmission is 545RFE 048410609P52119449AB is stamped on the side. The replacement was from a jeep grand Cherokee 4x4 with what looked to be identical. Only difference was the throttle bracket, transfercase to transmission adapter. I will check the codes tomorrow and post them.
Thanks
