04 Durango Misfire Has Compression Fuel & Spark
I’ve got a Durango with the 5.7 that I bought for cheap that needed a head gasket. Oil was pretty milky, but overall the repair was pretty straightforward. Had heads checked and machined by a trusted shop. Car runs, but has a cylinder 3 misfire. I’d say it’s a partial miss, and it occurs at idle but not at rpm. Without the check engine light you might never know. But it’s definitely missing. Has a brand new coil and plugs. Pulled injector and cleaned and verified it works. Even tried switching injector/coil with cylinder 1 and the miss stayed in 3. Compression was around 120 and consistent with the other cylinders. (Car has 150,000 miles)
At this point I’m just flustered with what it could be. Vacuum leak maybe?
Perhaps also worth noting, I did install a 180 thermostat to try and prevent a dropped valve seat. I have a hard time thinking this is the issue because it does it even before it gets warm, and it just seems ridiculous. But could that possibly it?
