I have a 2006 3 row seating durango 4.7 SLT awd 200k on the clock. Over all in great condition, no rust etc but recently cylinder 3 lost compression, the pressure gauge doesn't even flicker with a pressure test. It has great low miles on the tires, a battery less than a year old, less than 300 miles on the fuel pump and brand spanking new coil sets. Literally fresh out the box. Just the zero cylinder 3 compression. But the cylinder is not a repair I can do myself.
The opinion I seek is, do you think I could sell it as a "mechanics special" if so how much for. I don't want to part it out over time.
I recently (1 1/2 yrs ago) broke a piston rod in my 04 with the 5.7L. It cost me about $5500 to have it replaced. It sucked because I had just bought the truck 6 months before. K still have it and it’s still in pretty good condition. It’s up to you how much you like the truck.
Yeah I pretty much knew it would be uneconomical to repair. It's a bit of a buttkick because the vehicle is in way better condition that the c**p the dealerships are selling right now what with the shortages. I was hoping to find a cheap replacement that was mechanically and structurally sound with a rough interior and simply swap my interior over. A 2 row seater came up, but I don't know if it will take the 3 row seats.
