Default 2005 Durango Limited Backup Camera

On my 2005 Durango Limited 5.7 Hemi, I need to install a wireless backup camera that mounts on the license plate bracket. The suggested power for the camera is to tap into the backup lights, but I want to power the backup camera whenever the accessory power is on. Where is the easiest access to accessory power?

Default I have an 06..

I actually ran a corded camera and ran it into my aftermarket head unit, works nicely. Had to take off the entire trim section from the lift door, and the top&. Sides of the rear interior. Tapped into the power that runs along the passenger side, found the backup light wire, and did a t-tap into that. There’s also the cigarette lighter power you could use all right there. But you have to pull all that back. And it’s a pain in butt with the third row seats in place. I actually custom mounted the camera just above the license plate, in the trim. If I can post a pic, I will…. It took me a couple of days, but I wasn’t hustling on it at all. It can be done in probably 4-6 hours start to finish if you know what you are looking for and have everything go as planned. Lil more if none of that comes thru….

Thanks for the feedback. I essentially ended up doing the same thing but placed the camera on the license plate bracket.
