Default Axel size location

I am shopping for a used 04-05 Durango. Does anybody know how to determine if the vehicle has a 3.9 axel? The sales people I have encountered have not been able to help.

That is a option you have to ask for, like the upgrade to a HEMI which is worth every penny!!! Here is a link for you to check out all the specs http://hemitruckclub.com/durangospec.htm This should help you school the sales people.

Thanks HEMI5PNTSVN. The website has a lot of information. But I need to find the 3 digit code that identifies the 3.9 axle installation. This code is stamped on the equipment code plate attached to the body somewhere in the engine compartment. The code should be the same for '04/05. This info is also available on the build sheet, which only the dealer has access. None of the sales people were able to get the info.

The 2nd generation Durango has a paper tag rapped around the drivers side rear axle. It has a code on it as well as the rear size (usually 8.25") and the axle ratio, most commonly the 3:55 or the harder to find 3:92. Hope this helps.......
