My Vgate dongle & Jscan software work great in my 07 Jeep Wrangler, but when I plug the dongle into my 04 Durango, no lights, not even the red power LED, and of course Jscan reports it cannot connect.

But 2 other scanners (an Innova and a PT) work fine in both vehicles.

I have messages into Vgate but am curious if anyone here has experienced this?

 

Found the problem. I was connecting the dongle with the ignition already on. Either the dongle or the Durango PCU didn't like it done that way. So I connected the dongle with the ignition off, then turned it on, and everything worked fine!

When I use the dongle in my Jeep, it doesn't seem to care if the ignition is on or off when I connect it. The Durango is just "pickier".
