My wife drives our Durango and occasionally it will stall at a light. So far it has restarted each time. It has 39,000 miles on it, so we are just out of warranty. We took it to the dealer twice before about this problem and they couldn't find anything. I took it to another one today and the guy told me he could fix it for around $500...cleaning fuel injectors...new computer downloads, etc. He never really said he had found the problem. I didn't trust him. Anyone got any ideas?

yeah, I wouldnt trust him either... on the 5.2/5.9 magnum motors the stalling is usually connected to a dirty throttle body and IAC valve (intake air control valve) which is a motor with a piston on the end, it regulates a small amount of air to go past the throttle plates to control the idle. it gets dirty over time and needs to be cleaned.

which motor do you have?

 

We have the 4.7L V8. It's still running a little rough at times.

Just went through this with my '05 Hemi SLT today. I had the trans fluid and filters replaced and the next day it would stall at a red light or stop sign.

After doing some research I think on this site I told the stealership to check the filters and make sure they were on right and not sucking air into the trans. Sure enough one was cracked.

I get it back tonght so we will see.

I read your posts and have had a similar problem!

My wife drives an '05 Durango and last night it died in the parking lot at our kid's school. She tried starting it and it would start, rev up and then quit. She did this several times and finally it just did not turn over anymore. The electronics worked, the battery had full charge. After an hour, I got to the car and put the key in the ignition and it started right up. Shut it off and tried again. It stumbled a bit and cranked a little more and then started up. Drove it to the dealer and it ran perfectly. It is there now and they can see nothing wrong with it! This has happened two other times times! Any Ideas???

 

I have a 2005 model with 57,000 miles on it, I drive it a lot, back and forth from florida and new orleans, hell all over the place. I really haven't had any problems Im kinda mad though the infinity speakers are blown and I can't find replacements, could be my fault, for always playing them at peak, but I love loud music. Mine has stalled like 3 times in it's whole life, Usually in heavy traffic during rush hour bumper to bumper traffic at 5mph , but it's only stalled in those situations, kinda freaks you out, but you thank god that it restarts and it's not another problem. ANYONE know where I can get some replacement speakers for the infinity stereo system? for the 05 model.

I had a stalling issue as well. I took it to the dealer and they flashed the ECM. This cured it's stalling issue and there hasn't been any problems in months.
