Default Durango stalls at iddle: POSSIBLE SOLUTION!

Hi guys,

This worked for me and best of all can be done by yourself. My D (4.7L) had the rumbling engine at iddle speeds, never shutdown, but very near to.

I cleaned the throotle body and everything works great now. I even tested it while parked with everything ON for about an hour. The tach remained firm at over 500rpm with no changes, no rumbling. Couldn't believe it and after a week no rumbling at all.

The cleaning process:
1- Remove the air intake hoses and throtle air canister.
2- Remove the conector for the right side of the air canister. The air canister can be removed by just pulling it off from the throotle.
3- You will need a clean cloth rag and Carburator cleaner.
4- Spray carburator cleaner on the rag. NOT inside the throotle.
5- Manually open the throotle and clean the inside and plate borders.
6- May need to spray more carb.cleaner on the rag eventually.
7- Can use also some q-tips for detailing.
8- Repeat the process until you get the rag clean out of the throotle.
9 Re-assemble back. Remember the connector that goes into the air canister.

I found over the internet a very detailed throotle body process but it involves removal, careful notes, cleaning materials and buying new seals. Kind of technical for normal human beings.

Take note that this process must be perform after a battery change or full disconnection. The throotle body has a system to compensate for carbon deposits around the plate but when the battery is disconnected it returns to the clean position. Then the air pass is interrupted and the rumbling starts.

Good luck!!
