Default '04 Durango rear brake question

I was hoping that someone could help me out here. I feel pretty dumb asking this, but I can't get the rear brake pads off of the caliper. There is some type of metal clip in the middle of the caliper that keeps me from sliding the pad off. I spent an hour trying to figure out if I had to pry a screwdriver in there or what, but I couldn't figure it out. It was a cinch to change the brakes in my '99 mustang. Why can't it be that way on the Durango? Anyway, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Default RE: '04 Durango rear brake question

When I did the pads on the front of my durango, it took me quite a while to figure out how to get the pads off. They do slide off, it just took a small amount of persuasion from a hammer to break it loose. After that, it was still a little work to get it off. I did notice that the inside pad can get caught on the caliper.

Good luck....
