Install CD-Changer
Hi,
I bought a CD-Changer for my 2000 Intrepid and I don't know how to install it. I have hat a Radio Cassette combo, the standard one from Dodge and I thought that I have to replace the cassette-player with the cd-changer. Now I found out that the cd-changer belongs under the radio. My problem now is that I don't know how to connect them, I mean which cable do I need. Although there are no slots left on the radio for another cable. Can somebody please help me? Here is the cd-changer which I bought:

Thank you

Your radio MUST have 1 of the following buttons..."CD-C" or "MODE".
It will not be compatible without those buttons...period.
You could always upgrade the deck for fairly cheap...
The changer will accept 2 different cables depending on the year of the vehicle.(or donor stereo)
Dodge changed the connector to the stereo in mid 2002 (from round to square)but the connector to the changer remained the same.(square on all years)
I'm guessing you do not have those buttons I listed above.
I have the same changer in my 02 R/T hooked up to a factory single disc unit....no cassette, works great!
I then went the route of just buying a 6 disc in dash changer for my 2001 Durango...which by the way will bolt right in anysecond generationIntrepid....then you could keep your cubyhole under the stereo.
Hope this helps you out. I can provide part numbers for the cables if you need them.

Thank you very much for the answer. I don't have the CD-C or Mode button. I also don't have a connection port where I can plug in any wire from the changer. So I think I have to buy another radio, too which isa little bit disappointing because I thought I can just take my old one. Anyway, it would be great if you could give me those part numbers for the cables and maybe you know a place where I can order them cheap.
Thank you again
Thank you again
If the cost of the radio is too much, you could always sell the one you just got and but an after-market changer. These generaly can be installed with a standard radio. They pump the tunes through the radio RF cable. You just tune the deck to whichever freq the changer manual tells you to.
