Default Alternator replacement

I'm working on a 98 with the 2.7. Alternator is only putting out 12 volts. It doesn't look like it will be much fun to replace. How bad is this thing to replace? I do alot of my own work to cars, have air tools and plenty of hand tools to do the job, I was just wondering if there were any tips to make the job easier than it looks.

i doubt its your ALT is the prob. I would look for dirty connections on the alt or main 12 v supply to the alt maybe broken fuse link to there or fuse.

Sorry about the rant - That was not a fun alternator to get out. Alternator is replaced and now charging at 13.2 volts. I wish it was the fusible link - would have been a hellofa lot easier.
