My parents have an 01 intrepird. My fater sadi when they went away for a week then came back and turned on the heater they said it smeeled like methenal (a dead animal). My father spraid air freshener in the heater intake and it masked the problem. The car is garage kept. Any body know why this may be happing or how to take of the heating system intake? please help!!!

In your prior post, you mentioned a ticking,

https://dodgeforum.com/m_677498/mpag.../tm.htm#677498

You said:
"WhenI turn on my fanI get a ticking below the passenger side dash. It gets faster when i set it to a higher setting. Does anybody know what this may be? Ifso is there an easy fix or doI have to replace what is causing the ticking??? "

It may be something crawled in ad died. It could also be any other organic material that entered the fan cavity (i.e. rotting leaves and sticks). When the fan hits it, it clicks. The first thing I'd do is examine the cause of the "clicking sound".

The fan has a nickname "squirl cage" becasue it looks like one of those hamster wheels (why not a hamster cage then, I don't know). I'd check there first for mold, or rotting stuff.
