Default 98 intrepid

I own a 98 intrepid with cluster problems. The cluster work when the ingnition is placed in the on position. After the car is started, the cluster flatlines. The rest of the car runs and operates as it should. If the battery is disconnected for a few minutes, then reconnected, the cluster works fine for twenty minutes too two days, then flatlines again. At times when operating the car the cluster will work or parts will work. However this usually only happens in hard braking conditions or on a rough road. After some research,we found that it could possibly the PCM or BCM????

We'd like to have a confermation of some kind to what the problem would be before we purchse one or both of these as they tned to be expensive. Please help. Thanks in advance.

It could be the bus for the BCM also or a loose wire issue. I'd invest in a trip to the stealer (dealer) for a BCM check-up to be sure and save the $ in the long run.

Thats what the odometer keeps reading (no bus). What exactly is the bus system. We asked some of the local parts store, but all we got was "its a big yellow thing that hauls people around". [>:]

A bus is a shared set of wires that are used to communicate between a computer/computers and other peripherals (ie the speedo).

Good Luck. My car did the same thing, take it to the dealer. I had to replace the BCM, PCM, & TCM to get my guages working again. The PCM is a dealer only part, you can't get it off another car. The BCM & TCM can be purchased at a salvage yard.
