I have Problem after I Change engine intrepid 2002 2.7 with engine 2.7 1999 HELPPPPPP
IIIII NEEEDDD HELP.......
I have intrepid 2002 , I change new engine1999 after I fixed I have 2 codes P0340 and P0344 after a put in my car the farewell 2002 now I have just code for camshaft and I have many problem to make here start and if he start the car is drivable if kept under 2400 rpms. I need to tell me if I keep some pieces of the original motor (2002) in the new motor(1999) to resold this problem .

u installed a motor that has an NGC computer and the car u have is an SBEC the cam tone wheel is wrong u need the one off the old engine.

Now I have many problem to make here start and I have put in my car the original farewell(2002) I have just cade P0340 cam code .

Dodge Tech is correct about the tone ring on the camshaft. The tone ring on a 1999 2.7 engine is bolted on and can be removed if your careful. The tone ring from your old engine is probably riveted on but it won't matter if you drill them as long as you don't care where the chips go. You can also purchase the tone ring for a 2002 and just bolt it on. The tone ring is located under the drivers side valve cover and will require the removal of the intake top hat as well as the valve cover to access it. Once thats done it's pretty easy to see how it's changed.

I saw your post about having the wrong cam tone gear for the computer.I have just found I may have the same problem only the car is a 99 and engine is a 02 after a tow to the dealer they wanted to charge me 10 hours to do the work to fix it. I was just wondering if it was possable for me to just change the PCM to a 2002 on my 99 car????? Being I can get one for $75.00 from a wreaking yard
I am glad i saw this post because it costed me about $800.00 in fee's from local techs after paying to get this engine rebuilt and puting it in myself.Now i need to buy the machine shop some beer and tell them sorry(LOL) WOW what a job this turned out to be for my daughters first car good thing she's only 13 I have two more years to finish it
anyways some input on if this would work would be verry helpfull and you would save me a ton of time .............?
