Default Starting Problems

I have a 98 intrepid that i had to replace the engine on and everything went perfect with the engine swap until i went to start it, which is where my problem is. When i got the engine done and all hooked back up it would crank over and almost start but then my battery died so i had to charge the battery and when it was fully charged (which is now) it just ticks like there's a loose connection or something but there's no way there could be a loose connection if it was cranking over just fine before my battery died, anybody have any ideas what my problem could be??? any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Matt

NEVER say theres no way for aloose connection.chec the starter connection, battery connections and battery voltage. also heve someone watch the voltmeter while attempting to crank the engine...see what the battery voltage does. if it drops considerably, you have a bad battery.

I checked all the connections and they are all good and i also checked the volt meter when trying to start the car and it didnt go down that much ( maybe 8 or 9 volts).

have you checked the starter? try having someone tap on the starter with a hammer while you try to crank it. or remove the starter and bench check it.

this might sound like a useless question, but where did you buy the starter from?
