Default 100% electrical loss

I have a 2001 Intrepid with the 4 cylinder engine. About 6 months ago,
I came out of a store and when I went to start it, the electrical system went
completely dead - - no dome light, clock, radio, everything. We jump started
it and it ran like nothing was wrong. No more problems until this week 6 months
later. We noticed the dome and all other electrical seemed normal until I started to
turn the key and then dead - - immediately jump started and all seems normal again.
The batter is only 18 months old and no warning lights come on before or after the problem.
A friend had a Pathfinder that had same symptoms due to a faulty relay. The Dodge
mechanics said they couldn't tell anything without the problem occuring. HELP!!!!

Default RE: 100% electrical loss

check the wires on the bat for snugness, frayed wires, and ensure they are clean. Next inspect the other end of the ground wire for rust & dirt. Remove, clean & reinstall. Last do to the hot wire on the starter (while the ground if off, or disconnect the battery!), same remove clean and reinstall. Once all four ends are clean and snug, it should be good. If not we can go from there. This is usually the fix though.

Try a new battery, if that doesnt help maybe a dead alternator? Since it works when u jump it, I dont think its a relay issue or anything like that, Im guessin maybe a Lemon battery.
