Shimmies and Shakes
I have a 04 intrepid. Everything was fine untill about two weeks ago. I was leaving my mother in laws house. I got in the car and turned the key. It didn't start. That never happens. This car starts on the coldest morings instantly. I turned it over a few times. Finaly it started. I drove about 1/2 mile down the road, and it started bucking and jerking for around 3 seconds. At some point, the check engine light came on. Then it took right off again like nothing had happend. When I got home I check it all over. Sounded great. All fluids at proper levels. The next day the check engine light was off. The car ran fine for two weeks. Then two nights ago it did the same thing. Its running fine again, but I would like to figure this out before it leaves me along the road.
I have two ideas:
1) I installed a remote start on this car several years ago. It seems to work fine. However befor both of these events occured, I did something with the remote starters remote. Before the first event, while trying to get into the car, I droped the remote 3 times, and stepped on it the first fall. Before the second incedent, my 3 year old was playing with the keys while I was strapping him in the car. Could have pushed any/all buttons.
2) Possibly a fuel filter partialy cloged.
Any ideas???
