Driving my car yesterday and found there was no speedometer. Then approx. 2 minutes later Check Engine light comes on. On my way to my mechanic this morning the engine just turned off.

Anyone have this issue? I couldn't find any codes last night.

 

My 97 had the seed output sensor on the trany go out. It caused the spedo to go out, but also the trany was stuck in "limp mode." That is to say, it would not shift out of 1st or sec...top seed around 20-25 (guessing with no gauge). Now, if you had the engine light trip, there should be a code in memory. Did it start back up? Is the light on now?
