my 99 intrepid after a long drive or a few start + stops will start then shutoff and i have to wait for 20 mins or so to try and start again sometimes the engine shudders bad before it idles normal also.No codes + my cam sensor was replaced recently car was acting funny before i replaced cam sensor.

 

Did you ever fix the problem?

I'm having the same problem and most people I talk to say to change the fuel pump out....it's heating up and shutting down. I'm probably going to change it next week.

 

[&:] I haven't figured it out yet i am going to check the asd relay + if that isn't defective i will check the communication between the pcm and the asd then look toward the pump.Let me know if it works and it helps quite a bit if you have a chiltons for this car.

 

Try getting a fuel injection cleaning done. The good 3 step process. Runs for about $50 at local quick changes instead of $150 at a dealership. This stuff really works!!! But yes a bad pump does sound phesable and how many miles you got? Sounds like you MIGHT need a tune up and possibly new coils.

 

Seems to be a common problem.......I mis-diagnosed it as a bad fuel pump....stupid!

Turned out to be a bad intake manifold gasket.....which subsequently burned out 2 coils and some plugs and ruined my cats!
