the 3.2 is a strong reliable engine. they came optional on concord and intrepids and possibly LHS IIRC. i have a 3.2 in my intrepid. bought it at 40k and now have 185k on it. how many miles on the concord and where is it located?

the only real necessary maintenance required on a 3.2 is the timing belt, timing belt idler pulley, and water pump around 100k. otherwise just standard mntc and the thing should run forever.

another thing to check is the transmission. these need to be kept up on mntc by replacing the filter and 100% swap out of fluid every 70k (could be more or less pending your daily driving conditions). verify if any standard upkeep has been done on the car. if so, be sure to test drive and don't be afraid to ask questions. it's your money. good luck...

Ramrat, the reason why you can't find much is the fact that they only produced this engine from 1998-2001. The engine is just basically a smaller 3.5L engine and they are a dependable design. I'm not sure why they discontinued them, I guess possibly low demand for some reason.

Something I would like to inform you about to hopefully prevent confusion is that the Chrysler Crossfire (a two-seater roadster) also as an engine that is listed as a 3.2L engine; however, this engine and the one found in the Concorde share only one thing, their displacement and that is it. They are in no way related at all as that engine is a Mercedes engine. The one in the Concorde is a 100% Chrysler design.

The only engine that Chrysler ever put in Concorde's that you should be careful of is the 2.7L engine. The 3.2, 3.3L, and 3.5L should all be perfectly safe as long as the previous owner maintained it correctly.

Have a 98 intrepid with the 3.2. 248k miles. Timing set changed twice, plugs changed twice, two waterpumps, belts and hoses once, hamonic balancer (!@#$% cat). Runs great, great fuel mileage, and pretty snappy also.
