Rudy,

This is promising news, thanks again. How is it you are so knowledgeable about this vehicle?

simply working on my own car. i have a 2001 ES with a 3.2. bought it in 2005 with 50k. i now have 185k on the car. this was the first car i ever made an attempt to work on by myself. i got tired of spending outrageous amounts on labor and overpriced parts. mechanics buy the exact same part you can and mark it up a substantial amount.

i have also used trial and error for somethings, and some internet searching for others. i also purchased a haynes manual. i downloaded the service manual and have that handy as well. i also frequent a couple of other intrepid sites and plenty of reading.

working on a car is not too difficult. it is just a matter of taking your time and taking a lot of pictures help. its when you get everything back together and have a couple extra bolts when you need to start worrying!!

That's what I've been doing for years with my Taurus's. However, out of necessity, i got this intrepid, and this will be the last i own

I took it to my buddy, they attempted some things all of which failed.

They hooked it to the computer, and nothing came up about the cam sensor, however i am going to spend the 55 dollars tonight and replace it.

I've made an appointment with another garage, for next friday, because mine won't touch a 2.7 intrepid or saturns other than for inspection-my mother is tired of me having it in her garage, and offered to pay to get it fixed..

After letting Rocco check out my car yesterday, it's idling higher today and shifting a little rougher....

I lower the idle, and surrender thanks to mom bailing me out, and chalk this up to a learning experience, and begin looking for another Taurus immediately

Thanks for all your help

their scan tool should have been easily able to tell if the timing was off while the car was running. i still say it is simply the cam sensor. thats is what the cure for a "P0016" ususally is. swap the sensor and take it for a spin. i think you will be surprised!! good luck and keep posting your results.

I spent 58 dollars and still have the same problem...

Thankyou though for giving me hope, but i'll take mama's charity and have the mechanic fix the timing

did you reset the computer after you changed sensor by disconnecting the negative terminal for ~10 minutes? you need to reset the comp in order to clear the code or the vehicle will still assume their is a problem. if you did this already, i guess it may be a timing related issue. good luck...
