You need new spark plugs and coils badly. Afterwards, you should run perfectly. The 2.7L DOHC does NOT have a timing belt, it's driven by a steel timing chain on all four camshafts, requiring no schedule maintenance. The 3.2L and 3.5L SOHC series ARE belt driven though.

2.7 Timing chains still wear out just like any other one, and yes they do stretch out. Before you go spend about $75/coil get them tested make sure they still have the power capacity. They usually don't go bad after 150,000 miles unless you drive it like a raped ape. We had the same problem, new spark plugs didn't solve it. We had a bad crank bearing (it cracked). We got a new motor under warranty and then the code still came up. We took it back and they said it was the thermal sensor in the radiator that was malfunctioning. I think it's bull **** but they replaced it and it hasn't come back on yet. That timing chain is a pain in the *** to get to. Gotta take out the radiator, the assessories, and then the intake and valve covers and then the front cover.

I had the same problem. they said the coils were shorting (to the block?). They said they replaced them. Within months it was running exactly the same, hesitating, misfiring...
