Default '00 3.2l tranny issues

Hi, I have a 2000 Intrepid ES 3.2l with 142k miles on it. I would say that about 300mi ago the tranny started acting weird. After driving for about 15-20min if i got to park my car it has difficulties going into park. usually it will shift from auto stick up to nuetral and then just stop n get stuck. Usually i will have to forcibly throw the shifter into park. Aside fromj that mech. problem there seems to be an electronic one too as when i forcibly push it into gear my gear display wont rtead the same i.e., yesterday i force the shifter to go into park and it clicked in, however my gauge cluster read reverse (i kno for a fact i was engaged in par) and when i let my foot off of the brake the car started to go backwards (i was parked on level ground. As it stands i am un able to figur it out and i have put the car up for sale because i dont want a big hassle but if you guys could help me figure it i'll just keep the vehicle

No. There is no neutral safety switch. There is a range sensor mounted on the valve body. You need a shift cable.
