Question 98 Intrepid won't start after rebuild

Hey guys,

I have a 98 Intrepid 3.2L that started running extremely rough a few weeks ago. Just got done taking the entire upper engine apart, replacing head gaskets, intake gaskets, cleaning valves etc.

Got the engine put back together...it won't start. It cranks and cranks and cranks (so I know the battery and starter are fine) and I can smell fuel. It sounds like it just won't fire. Took out one of the spark plugs and held it to ground and it sparked. Yet, while in the block it doesn't sound like firing. All six plugs have fuel on them when taken out, so I know that's not an issue.

Does anyone have ANY idea what could be wrong here? Did I miss something?

Thanks for your help, hopefully it's something simple and my car will be back on the road shortly.

-Kai

check compression...my guess is your timing is off.

it sounds like you lost compression. If compression is good check the rail pressure you could have injectors leaking.
